The Month of Wonderful Wool

Oct 11, 2022
The month of wonder wool, celebrating British wool

Celebrating British Wool

Wool Month officially launched on the 3rd October. It is the ultimate wool celebration, an initiative spearheaded by The Campaign for Wool of which King Charles III is the Patron. It was born in 2010 when wool prices were at rock bottom and generally, this brilliant natural fibre was not in high demand.

The launch event saw London’s historic tailoring street Savile Row transformed into a pasture upon which fifty sheep grazed. Over 100 companies participated in Wool Week and thousands of consumers took part in activities such as knitting and felting. Yellow sheep were even spotted queuing outside Selfridges department store on Oxford Street.

It’s now a month-long event and is in every major retailer’s calendar of activities. We couldn’t be happier as we obviously celebrate wool and it’s incredible benefits all year round.

The Campaign also won ‘Best Fashion Documentary’ for their short film  ‘Why Wool Matters’ at the London Fashion Film Festival this year… It’s truly incredible to get this level of recognition, raising the profile of wool to a global audience.
