Field Notes: Edition 24

Planning for our brand refresh began at the beginning of the year and it has been a true collaboration between Floks and our design partners at Studio Nude and Three Of Us.

FLOKS 2.0 A PEEK BEHIND THE SCENES

This month’s Field Notes is a little different.

To celebrate our new look and feel, we’re taking you behind the scenes of Floks 2.0 and sharing what’s kept us inspired, energised and well slept through a balmy, busy summer.

Planning for our brand refresh began at the start of the year and from day one it has been a true collaboration between the Floks team and our brilliant design partners at Studio Nude and Three Of Us.

Together, we’ve been shaping how Floks looks, feels and speaks for the next chapter, while making it easier for our customers to explore our products, understand what makes them different and build a better sleep set-up.

There have been communal lunches, away days, countless video calls, plenty of detail checking and more than a few late-night emails. It’s been challenging, exciting and hugely rewarding and we think we’ve created something really special.

Behind the lens

Many of the beautiful images and films you’ll see across our new website were shot at the stunning Architects Holiday

We happened to choose what felt like the hottest couple of days of the year, so the shaded swimming pond just outside the cabin was very welcome between shots. Architects Holiday is also a Floks hospitality sleep partner, with our natural fill mattresses and wool bedding in its cabins.

What kept us going

Round-table, nutritious lunches became something of a ritual whenever our teams got together. A chance to stop, share ideas, refuel and come back to the afternoon with fresh energy.

One dish became a particular favourite: Green Goddess Noodle Salad inspired by Dominic Franks.

Recipe:

For the dressing: coriander, fresh ginger, garlic, tahini, honey, olive oil, sesame oil, apple cider vinegar, Chinese five spice, lime juice, chilli flakes, salt, black pepper and a splash of cold water.

For the salad: long-stemmed broccoli, carrots, courgette, fennel, mangetout, edamame beans, red cabbage and rice noodles.

To serve: chopped peanuts, fresh chives and a drizzle of sesame oil.

Blitz the dressing until smooth. Finely slice the vegetables, cook and cool the noodles, then toss everything together. Finish with peanuts, chives and sesame oil.

Moving through it

Between customer experience, operations and creative, bringing Floks 2.0 to life has certainly kept us moving. And we’ve found that actually moving has helped too. Whether it’s a run, a brisk dog walk, Pilates, yoga or a high-energy class, we’ve been making a conscious effort to carve out time to exercise - particularly during the busiest weeks.

One conversation that kept coming up was how surprisingly difficult it is to find activewear made without plastic. The choice is still limited, but we love Community Clothing's plastic-free range. Made in the UK and available in a brilliant retro palette, with shorts and tops for men and women.

And of course, sleep

Sleep has been the not-so-secret ingredient behind this new chapter.

Because the real benefit of a good night isn’t just how you feel when you wake up. It’s the clarity, energy and sense of possibility you carry into the day ahead. And when the summer mornings arrived very early, our wool-filled sleep masks helped keep out the light, while our wool pillows kept us naturally cool and supported through the night.

A small reminder of the thinking at the heart of our new chapter: Tomorrow, made tonight.
